Contract Lead Engineer – .NET 8 | £500/day | 6 Months | Manchester (Hybrid, 1x Week Onsite)

We’re looking for a Lead Engineer to drive the development of scalable, secure, and high-performance cloud-native applications using .NET 8 and AWS. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a microservices-driven environment, enjoys mentoring teams, and remains hands-on with development.

Contract: 6 months (likely extension)
Rate: £500/day (Outside IR35)
Location: Manchester (1x per week onsite)

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead a development team, ensuring best practices and technical excellence.
• Architect and build cloud-native applications using .NET 8, AWS, Docker, and Terraform.
• Implement and promote CI/CD, TDD, and DevOps methodologies to streamline deployments.
• Work closely with architects, product managers, and key stakeholders to shape technical strategy.
• Solve complex engineering challenges to enhance performance, resilience, and maintainability.

Technical Stack:

• Backend: .NET 8, AWS Lambda, ECS, EKS
• Databases: SQL/NoSQL (DynamoDB, Aurora, DocumentDB – MongoDB experience is a bonus)
• Event-Driven Systems: Kafka, AWS MSK, EventBridge, SNS/SQS
• DevOps & Infrastructure: Terraform, GitHub Actions, Docker
• Frontend: React

What We’re Looking For:

• Experience leading development teams in an agile environment.
• Hands-on expertise in .NET 8, AWS, SQL/NoSQL databases, and microservices.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD, containerisation, and DevOps tooling.
• Experience with event-driven architectures and cloud-native systems.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
