Interim Chief Technology Officer (CTO) – 6-Month Contract (£800/day Inside IR35)

Rate: £800 per day (Inside IR35)
Duration: 6-Month Contract 

We’re looking for an experienced Interim CTO to lead a digital transformation programme and oversee software engineering operations for the next six months. This is a high-impact role, ensuring stability, strategy execution, and delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic technology leadership across a large-scale digital retail engineering function.
• Oversee agile transformation, DevOps adoption, and cloud-first initiatives (Azure/AWS).
• Manage and guide an engineering team of 100+ across architecture, software development, and quality assurance.
• Partner with Product, UX, and Agile Delivery teams to drive key initiatives.
• Address technical debt and ensure strong security, compliance, and CI/CD practices.

Experience Required:

• Proven leadership in large-scale software engineering teams (50+ headcount).
• Previous experience as an Interim CTO, Technology Director, or Head of Engineering.
• Strong expertise in modern development stacks (.Net, Node.js, React) and cloud infrastructure.
• Ability to embed Agile, Lean, and DevOps principles effectively.
• Track record of stabilising and transforming engineering teams in fast-moving environments.
