Desktop & Field Support Engineer

Are you a skilled Desktop & Field Support Engineer looking for a dynamic work environment where your expertise will be put to the test? We are currently seeking a passionate and tech-savvy individual to provide top-notch support, security, maintenance, and innovative Infrastructure Solutions across our extensive and diverse network.

 

Your Role:

In this pivotal Desktop & Field Support Engineer position, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the seamless operation of end-user devices, including desktops, laptops, mobiles, printers, and peripherals. You'll also be the go-to expert for conference units and will take the lead in categorising, prioritising, and resolving incidents and service requests within SLA.

This will occasionally require travel to various locations across the UK where our valued users are based so, you WILL need a full UK valid drivers licence.

This role can pay anything up to £40,000 + benefits for the right person!

 

Your day-to-day activities will include:

  • Delivering regular status updates to customers until issues are resolved.
  • Collaborating with 3rd line Infrastructure Engineers to implement system builds, OS and application packages, and software patches.
  • Providing on-site IT support at retail stores and remote sites.
  • Ensuring the deployment of the latest OS and business application software across all end-user devices.
  • Taking charge of end-user asset management, including inventory and asset tagging.
  • Maintaining an up-to-date asset register in our ITSM tool.
  • Creating and maintaining a standard end-user device model.
  • Staying informed about the latest end-user products and conducting tests to update our device standards.
  • Addressing all hardware and system issues within SLA.
  • Contributing to process development and system refinement to enhance efficiency.
  • Collaborating with the facilities team to maintain high workstation standards, including structured cabling.
  • Providing technical guidance to the 1st and 2nd line teams.
  • Supporting IT projects related to software and OS deployment.
  • Completing hardware installations and conducting hardware and OS audits.
  • Documenting processes and updating the ITSM FAQ, KB, KEDB, and Service Desk operating procedures.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve service and automate processes proactively.

 

What We're Looking For:

  • A degree in a relevant subject.
  • ITIL certification.
  • Additional certifications as a desktop administrator (e.g., Microsoft 365, CCNA, CompTIA A+).
  • Prior experience in a similar role.
  • Expertise in both physical and virtual desktop technologies.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills at the LAN/WAN/Switch level.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems.
  • Proficiency in software builds and deployment technologies such as Microsoft Endpoint Manager, SCCM, InTune, and MDM.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, O365, GPOs, DNS, Microsoft Office software, and Exchange.
  • Experience with AV and enterprise security products.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting desktop and laptop hardware issues.
  • Familiarity with end-user device provisioning and OS deployment methodologies.
  • Ability to troubleshoot TCP/IP network connectivity issues, including Telephony/VOIP Systems.
  • Experience in setting up networked printers, iPhones, and Android devices.
